Liverpool have confirmed the transfer of a winger, while the club can also relax after Real Madrid abandoned interest in Alexis Mac Allister in favour of a different Premier League midfielder. Meanwhile, Inter Milan are reportedly plotting a triple swoop on Anfield.
Liverpool sell winger for small profit
The January transfer window in England may be shut, but Liverpool have still managed to complete outgoing business. A handful of overseas markets remain open, including Norway, and at 6pm UK time on Friday evening Liverpool confirmed the permanent exit of 19-year-old winger Trent Kone-Doherty.
The teenager arrived at Liverpool from Derry City for £150,000 in 2022. Having made just two senior appearances, he has now sealed a move to Norwegian side Molde.
A club statement said:
“The winger joins the Norwegian top-flight club after nearly four years with the Reds.
“He joined the LFC Academy in the summer of 2022 and played regularly for the U18s, U19s and most recently the U21s.
“Kone-Doherty also made two senior appearances, coming on as a substitute against Plymouth Argyle in the Emirates FA Cup in February 2025 and later featuring from the bench versus Crystal Palace last October. Everyone at LFC wishes Trent the very best for the next stage of his career.”
According to Paul Joyce of The Times, Liverpool have included both buy-back and sell-on clauses in the deal, protecting their interests should Kone-Doherty flourish in Norway.
Real Madrid’s grand midfield plan
Real Madrid are expected to land a marquee central midfielder this summer, with constant speculation in Spain previously linking them with Mac Allister.

Those rumours also surfaced in the UK, with a Liverpool Echo reporter recently suggesting the Argentine could head to the Bernabeu at the end of the season.
However, the latest reports from Spain indicate Los Blancos are now focusing their efforts on signing Rodri from Manchester City instead.
The update claims Real Madrid are preparing a €50m bid, but only if Rodri returns to peak form in the remainder of the campaign and performs strongly at the World Cup.
Rodri is said to be open to the switch, and there are suggestions City could consider selling the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner with just one year left on his contract next summer.
Further details in the in-depth Spanish report – including which regulations Real Madrid may bend to complete the deal – are available elsewhere.
Triple Inter Milan raid
Inter Milan are reportedly targeting not one but three Liverpool players in an ambitious triple move.
Italian sources claim Ibrahima Konate, Giovanni Leoni and Curtis Jones are all on the Serie A giants’ radar.
Inter hope to land Konate on a free transfer if he refuses to sign a new contract at Anfield, with his current deal expiring in the summer.
Leoni is viewed as a potential season-long loan signing, a move that could make sense should Liverpool recruit another centre-back alongside Jeremy Jacquet.
Jones – who Inter attempted to sign on loan with a €40m purchase option in January – is expected to be the subject of a renewed approach…
