Eddie Howe revealed that Bruno Guimaraes could have suffered another injury late on during Newcastle’s victory over Tottenham.
Strikes from Malick Thiaw and Jacob Ramsey secured Newcastle a crucial 2-1 away triumph, bringing an end to their four-match winless streak in the Premier League.
The win lifts Newcastle above local rivals Sunderland into tenth place, while Spurs remain just five points clear of the relegation zone.
The only real downside for the visitors came with the late withdrawal of Guimaraes, who had to be substituted in stoppage time after collapsing near the end of the match.
The Brazilian midfielder appeared to be in visible pain and was eventually replaced by Lewis Hall following checks from Newcastle’s medical team.
Guimaraes had only made his return last weekend against Brentford after missing four matches with an ankle issue, but Howe suggested the 28-year-old may now be dealing with a hamstring concern.
‘I’m not sure,’ the Newcastle head coach said when questioned about Guimaraes after the game. ‘He’s a bit concerned.

‘He’s never had hamstring trouble before, so we’re trying to work out whether it was cramp or something more serious.
‘It feels more like an injury to me, but we’ll wait and see and try to remain positive for now.’
However, Howe chose to shift the focus to his squad’s display, as his players finally celebrated their first away victory of the year together with the travelling supporters.
