Tottenham expected to appoint new manager by Friday ahead of Arsenal clash

Frank was dismissed on 11 February after a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle proved to be the breaking point for both supporters and the club’s hierarchy.

Malick Thiaw opened the scoring, and although Archie Gray managed to level the match, Jacob Ramsey’s late goal sealed all three points for the visitors at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That result effectively ended Frank’s tenure, leaving Spurs in the market for their third head coach in just eight months.

How soon could Tottenham name their next manager?

John Wenham feels Frank was never the right fit for Spurs and believes the club could line up a short-term replacement within days. Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said:

“It had to happen. The sense was that it simply wasn’t going to work, and the style of football didn’t match the club’s DNA — ‘to dare is to do.’

“We now have 12 days before we face Arsenal. If a new manager comes in within the next day or two, that leaves around 10 full days to prepare for that match.

“It would immediately lift the mood ahead of that game, which is huge. There is nothing Tottenham would enjoy more than beating Arsenal.

“Tottenham desperately need a win. They are deep in the relegation zone, and I don’t think I’ve ever celebrated a Manchester United goal as much as I did last night when Benjamin Šeško scored against West Ham.

“Spurs are in a relegation fight, and the quicker they accept that reality, the better. They can’t drift through it like they have since November and December.”

Why moving fast may benefit Tottenham

Appointing a new manager right away could prove to be the smartest decision for Spurs, especially as their preferred long-term candidate will not be available until the summer.

The name dominating discussions among fans is Mauricio Pochettino, but he is currently preparing to lead the United States at the World Cup.

The 53-year-old has already indicated he will not walk away from that position, and releasing him from his contract would require significant compensation.

As a result, installing an interim coach over the next few days — until their top choice becomes attainable — could be the most practical solution.
