SportNews2 understands that RB Leipzig prodigy Yan Diomande has not reached any agreement or made commitments to Liverpool or any other side regarding his future, despite growing rumours and widespread interest from Europe’s top clubs. However, he remains one to monitor closely as the summer transfer window approaches.
Diomande, viewed by the Red Bull group as one of the finest talents they have ever produced and their most exciting discovery since Erling Haaland, is rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after young players in global football.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a stunning introduction to European football. He first joined Spanish underdogs Leganes after turning down approaches from BlueCo, Crystal Palace and Rangers. That move proved inspired, as just six months later he secured a transfer to Leipzig.
Signed initially to challenge players such as Antonio Nusa and Johan Bakayoko, Diomande has quickly established himself as one of Leipzig’s standout performers and is now considered one of the Bundesliga’s most highly valued prospects in recent years.
As previously reported, Liverpool are the club that have carried out the most extensive work on Diomande, who is believed to command a fee of at least €100million (£87.7m, $118.5m).
Despite claims that a personal deal has already been struck with Liverpool, sources familiar with the player’s situation have played down those reports.
“As things stand, nothing has been finalised. The only certainty is that Yan is fully focused on helping Leipzig secure a top-four finish before turning his attention to the World Cup with Ivory Coast. The interest is real, but no decisions have been made yet. We will see how the next few months develop,” a source close to Diomande’s camp told us exclusively.
Liverpool face Man Utd competition for Bundesliga star
Liverpool are far from alone in tracking the winger. We have previously confirmed that Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have all scouted Diomande, along with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
A senior scout from a major European side explained why Diomande is attracting such attention: “With Diomande, there is very little historical data compared to others — he has only been playing at the top level for just over a year. That’s why clubs are working hard now to gather as much information as possible.”
We can also confirm that Bayern Munich maintain strong interest, although the Bundesliga champions are cautious about his rapidly rising valuation. Even so, insiders say Bayern should not be ruled out at this stage.
All signs point toward Diomande eventually joining an elite club, but his future will depend on which team is prepared to meet his hefty asking price.

Latest Liverpool news: Fans make demand / Slot sack update
Meanwhile, sections of Liverpool’s fanbase have urged Arne Slot to give more opportunities to young winger Rio Ngumoha, following below-par performances from Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.
Some supporters claimed Ngumoha “did more in 20 minutes” than Salah or Gakpo managed against Forest on Sunday and argued that he is “a much better footballer” than Gakpo in particular.
Elsewhere, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Slot’s situation and whether Liverpool’s hierarchy could consider removing him from his role.
Romano suggested that there is one specific scenario that would significantly increase the likelihood of Slot being dismissed in the summer.
