Verona striker Gift Orban has publicly apologized for his behavior after a physical confrontation with a fan following his team’s 1-0 loss to Milan in Serie A on Sunday. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Stadio Bentegodi, where Orban, driving away after the match, was approached by a supporter who said something that prompted the player to stop his car, exit, and physically confront the fan. The altercation took place in front of other fans who were hoping for autographs or photos.
In his apology posted on Instagram Stories, Orban expressed deep regret for his actions, stating: "I sincerely apologize to all the fans for my behavior. I understand how important your support is, and I am sorry if I ignored those who asked for photographs and autographs. You deserve respect, and at that moment, I let you down."
Taking Responsibility

Orban emphasized that there was no excuse for his loss of control during the confrontation and took full responsibility for the incident. He assured the fans that he would learn from this mistake and work to regain their trust through actions, not just words. "I am also profoundly sorry for how I reacted," Orban continued, "there is no excuse for having lost control, and I take full responsibility."

Despite the controversy surrounding the incident, Orban reiterated his commitment to Verona and thanked the fans for their continued support, promising to focus on his performance on the field moving forward. He also acknowledged the passion and loyalty the club's supporters show every day, making it clear that their backing was deeply appreciated.
A Likely Departure

However, Orban’s future with Hellas Verona appears uncertain, especially given the team’s current position in Serie A. Verona is virtually relegated to Serie B after a disappointing season that includes just three wins, nine draws, and 21 defeats. As a result, Orban’s time at the club might be nearing its end, even though he has been a key player for them.
Currently on loan from German club TSG Hoffenheim, with an option to buy for €8 million, it seems unlikely that Verona will activate this clause after the recent incident. The 23-year-old forward has had a solid season, scoring seven goals and contributing three assists in 28 league appearances, but the events surrounding the fan clash may affect his future at the club.
